Couture - Adidas Originals Denim by Diesel

Remember how the 3 striped sneakers used to take the domestic youth here by storm? Well, their presence is still holding well as we still see them binding the walking feet of some as we stroll downtown. Nowadays, the dominance of the local sneakers scene is already more segregated. There's the Onitsuka Tigers, Nike, Puma, Converse... But it has always been vividly instilled in my mind, on how successful the German Sportswear & Lifestyle giant has always been.

Adidas has now launched a new collection series of denim jeans together with Italian denim powerhouse Diesel - Adidas Originals Denim by Diesel. Following their previous designer-collaboration success with Stella McCartney and Yohji Yamamoto, this marks their third and also the most interesting and exciting sportswear-fashion collaboration project so far! Recently, we've been noticing more collaboration projects involving fashion brand names as fashion is trying to expand their horizon and influence to other fields. Take for example: Motorola/Dolce Gabbana, LG/Prada and Samsung/Giorgio Armani; these cellphone & fashion house projects spring up one after another. Recently it was also announced that Bugatti/Hermès will be partnering up for a new automobile model "Bugatti Veyron Fbg Par Hermès" where one of the key features boasts Hermès inspired leather interior!

Let's take a look at the new Adidas Originals Denim by Diesel collection for Men (Sorry Ladies!).

Adi-Viker: Unwashed, Dark Blue Treated, Dirty Medium Treated (L-to-R)

Adi-Thanaz: Super Black, Dirty Medium Treated, Unwashed (L-to-R)

There're two main collections - Adi-Viker & Adi-Thanaz. Adi-Viker denims are low-rise, regular cut while Adi-Thanaz is figure-hugging skinny. While the photos showcase models donning on these denims with matching Adidas shell-toes, I just can't help thinking that these jeans are designed in mind of their well-received sneakers. Seriously they look perfect in match! There're also specific details found on these denims that caught my eye, as these little give-aways might actually instill identity and provide the fabric distinction against other denims. Take a look at them here:

For the Adi-Viker series, the back-belt region holds the classic Adidas Originals Trefoil logo, which is black in colour. The Diesel's branding strip can be found on the lining of the front right pocket and what surprises me the most is the unsuspecting underside of the ankle cuff, where you can find the prominent three stripes! This may well be a new cause for Adidas denim wearers to fold up their ankle cuffs and thus initiate a new style of jeans wearing!

For the Adi-Thanaz series, the Diesel's branding strip remains the same. The back-belt region features a white Trefoil logo instead of a black one in the Adi-Viker series. Also a significant note is the three stripes are now shifted from the ankle cuff region to the side of the denim. In my opinion, I really dig into the three stripes design in both series. Not only are they iconic of Adidas's brand identity, they distinguish themselves from the sea of jeans ever present in the local fashion scene!

Now, Adidas Originals can finally clothe anybody who steps into their concept stores from shoe down to top up for that complete Adidas look! Try mixing a comfortable track top or simply your favourite soccer club's team jersey together with their latest denim line-up and their well-received sneakers. der Herr Adidas!
