Beauty: Women Hair Trends 2008

'Hair'-low!
'
Take a walk around the streets downtown on a weekend, you'll tend to notice some gradual changes in the women's hairstyle trends. More of them are foregoing the ever classic long hair with parting for something more refreshing. For those of you who want to head down to your salon for a hair makeover but yet still unsure of what's in trend and suitable, take your time to rejoice as MSR is highlighting a few hairstyles that will be in trend for 2008!
'
'
The Bob
'
Started off with Mrs Beckham who picked this hairstyle and rampaged the fashion world by storm, Victoria Beckham initiated The Bob by making it her very own signature hairstyle during 2007 and shall see a lot of the reminiscence of its influence as this trend continues into 2008! Bobs can be of different length varying, usually with both ends of the bob curling sharply towards the front to create an urban chic look. Bobs are highly customizable since everyone can create their unique style by either sporting long. medium or short bobs, with or without fringes, and also not forgetting the selection of hair colour. In place of the Pob of 2007, the Bob is definitely the perfect hairstyle of the year in our opinion.

The Fringe
'
When we speak of the fringe, we cannot help but be reminded of the Kate Moss fringe. She is arguably the celebrity who resulted in the revival of the fringe trend for 2008. Known to sport her fringes a tad bit longer over the eyes, the Kate Moss fringe might serve to annoy the worshippers of practicality. There are other variation as well, such as the blunt-cut fringe and the pixie crop, which we will be elaborating in the next section. Do note that fringes are very suitable for oval and heart shaped faces, if unsure do consult your hairstylist for advice and tips.

The Pixie Crop

Almost boy-like, it takes a lot more than courage for ladies to take a step this far going for a really short crop. Should any of you ladies are willing to jump onto the Pixie Crop wagon, we assure you that you will not go out of trend at all! Eyes shall be all on you as you stroll the street with the Pixie cut as this style highlights something special about your personality. Enabling your eyes to shine and stand out as more hair will be out of the way, this might entice people to face you for a good chat as it might give them a feeling that there's nothing hidden but just pure directness with no ulterior motives or hidden agenda. In short allowing you to give others a pure clean innocent feel of impression. Not for the high foreheaded though, we must add.

With all the exciting hairstyles that are set to rule the streets and parties for this year, are you ready to stun the average onlookers to stir up envy in their hearts? An initiative move by you might earn you several followers, so that makes you a trend-setter of sorts. Cool, isn't it?

Have a nice hair!

Scent Review: Mariah Carey's M

Hello all! While most celebrities are busy working their ass off maintaining their size at a 0, some joined in the celebrity fragrance game, creating their own scents.

Mariah Carey's not an exception. Her debut scent, M (Another letter fragrance! Gwen Stefani's latest scent is called L), produced with Elizabeth Arden is nicely wrapped in purple with an exquisite glass cap with a butterfly resting on it. The silver ropped collar completes the design with elegance.

Mariah's love for the colour purple and butterflies is for real. If you've been a fan or least a tad bit more observant, you'll realise her past albums had either graphics of butterflies and her latest album E=MC2 has shades of purple seen on the cover. And design reminded me of one of her classic songs, butterfly.

I stepped into the departmental store and caught my eyes on M. I was very attracted to the design of the bottle. I'm not a fan of the colour purple, infact sometimes it makes me sick looking at it because it can appear to be a tad bit too girlie to me. But I like, or should I say, fell in love with how the whole package looked, especially the butterfly that sat sophisticatedly on the cap. It's a classic beauty. Who cares if it's purple?

I asked for the box. And.. OHMUHGAWDSZZXX. Has anyone seen how Mariah Carey look like now? She's no longer that tree trunk walking free on Beverly Hills, she's so toned and healthy looking now - she's DA BOMB. Seriously? Seriously. On the box, she lies naked in the waters showing off her golden coloured skin and great looking ass, her hair soaking wet, the sunset as her background and a bottle of M right in the middle. That is sexy. That is very sexy. That is very, very sexy.

I've learnt not to judge a book by its cover. I asked for a tester and I love it. I researched online to find out what are the contents of the scent and found out - it has notes of marshmallow (yummmmmmm!), sea breeze accord, Living Tahitian Tiare, gardenia, sheer amber, patchouli and Moroccan incense.

Carey said she was inspired by the scent of toasted marshmallow from her childhood and by an incense she bought on the street in Morocco, and noted that "I was never a perfume wearer, because some scents would irritate my skin. But this doesn't, and this is the first fragrance I've ever worn." MC mentioned that M is like a gift to all her fans. (Yes, another MC mechandise for fans to collect.)

MC also added that the scent of marshmallows reminded her of her fondest childhood memories in the kitchen with her father. So expect M to be sweet. I wouldn't say it floral but it's just sweet. Sweet like marshmellows. (We can really smell like anything we want now.) It has the scent of comfort, suitable for younger markets who already outgrown candy might find it appealing, like yours truly.

I'd say M is nothing spectacular but it is not dull. I like how it's so simple, and its scent is suitable for most occasions. You can wear it to work without smelling too strong or heavy, or go out with a hot date smelling sweet as a pea and also sexy. You might not think much of it but you will not hate it. I think it's worth the purchase which is why I'm a proud owner now.

M by Mariah Carey is available in 15 ml Parfum, or 30, 50 or 100 ml Eau de Parfum. A matching Body Lotion is also sold.
