MuHu~!
Ever wondered how it feels to encounter a close shave? Well, it's more than just going 'PHEW! That was CLOSE!'. I'm not talking about a 'narrow escape' kind of close shave here, I'm referring to the act of grooming - shaving. Every gentleman should be knowledgeable in obtaining a clean shave.
You must be wondering, why the sudden mention of men's shaving? Just the other day, I had an embarrassing post-shave condition: acne breakouts! (ARGHHH!!!) Symptoms of acne breakouts, uneven shaves, razor burns and dry flaky skin are some of the common troubles faced by men as a result of poor shaving techniques and hectic lifestyle. Sometimes, I just can't afford the luxury of time to perform proper shaving when I have to rush for lectures in the morning!
Therefore, I shall be doing some of you men out there a favour by penning an article on a perfect shave! I understand that some of you may already been enlightened on this grooming aspect, so bear with me throughout this agenda alright?
Pre-shaving Stage
1st Tip: Soften Up The Night Prior!
Did you know that this action is actually performed the night before your act of shaving? That's right! Apply a pre-shave solution over your face before you go to bed to achieve the effect of softening your hair whiskers as well as to exfoliate your skin. Some products might even help in reducing the future hair growth rate. This preparation helps as thick and rough hair results in painful and unwanted resistance against the blade that may lead to other problems like razor burns or cuts.
2nd Tip: Scrub During Showers
A hot shower is actually an activity that you can do your shaving right after, as the hot steam aids in opening up your pores that results in a nicer shaving experience. Washing your face with a gentle facial scrub is recommended as it can remove dead skin particles and dirt as well, which will keep your skin clean for that shave!
The Act of Shaving
You've really got to maintain the hygiene and sharpness of your razor blade. Ensure that you change your blades frequently. Rinsing under hot running water helps in preventing clogging of your blades. Apply shaving foam or cream and let it sit in for about half a minute or so before moving your blade over your whiskers. Always shave in the direction of hair growth to prevent excessive friction. This will prevent any potential razor burns.
Post-shaving Stage
Most of us will skip this stage. However, it actually repairs, soothes and disinfects the skin. Apply a good aftershave product will aid in hydrating and protecting your skin against the common aftershave symptoms. Some aftershave products actually have a nice scent, which will allow you to smell fresh and good. Many fragrance makers have included aftershave products in their collection line of fragrances to entice men to purchase them for the attractive scent.
I shall be posting again.
