Film: Carrot Cake Conversations (Preview)

Once in a while, nice things do dawn upon us during our darkest moments. Ever craved for that sweet and sticky bar of ecstatic chocolates when your mood is heading nowhere but south? Always had that lingering thought of drowning yourself in an alcoholic pool to escape from troubles whenever things falter in your life? Well, allow me to offer you a plate of piping hot "chye tau kueh" (carrot cake) instead for a change.

Coming November 6, Michael Wang, a local director, is dishing up a fragrant serving of carrot cake for all of us, albeit with conversations. Carrot Cake Conversations, starring Alaric Tay, Andrea Fonseka, Adrian Pang and Danielle O'Malley, is a tale revolving around four total strangers who find themselves stranded here in Singapore a couple of days prior Christmas and get connected to seek solace and companionship over a nice plate of carrot cake and a conversation resulting from it.

Adrian Pang plays as Matthew, a wealthy real-estate magnate who finds himself at the crossroads of his life. Andrea Fonseka plays Ruth, a hooker who yearns to be a pioneer local Blues singer. Alaric Tay plays a businessman, Daniel, who recently possesses knowledge of his wife's unfaithfulness to him. Australian theatrical actress Danielle O'Malley plays Kate, a failed American actress who's in transit in Singapore for a night.

Do give this local film production a go to show support for local english films. MSR deems Carrot Cake Conversations as a worthy screening in cinemas coming November, in fact it's vying head-on with 007's Quantum of Solace as we've noticed. We will be heading down to catch it as soon as we can to return with a review on it. If we're already determined, what's hindering your decision?
