David Cook crowned Winner by 12 million votes

The results are out – 25 year old Texas boy, David Cook is 2008’s American Idol. Last night was a battle between two boys who shared the same name and the same dream. Both Davids sang three songs – 1 chosen by Clive Davis, 1 new song and the last song would be one of the many songs they’ve sung throughout the whole season.

My thoughts – Both Davids deserved to win because they are both great talents who portrayed humility and marketability. (Both of them has never been in the bottom 3 throughout the whole competition)

I’ve never been that intense before. I sat before the television with no agenda in my mind; I just wanted to pay attention to their performance. For once, there were no clear signs of who the winner is. (The year where it was between Fantasia and Diana Degarmo, we knew the duck would surely win. It was all written over her face)

However, last night clearly little David Archuleta rocked the stage. He made clever song choices and displayed fantastic vocals. Singing ‘Imagine’ for his last song, he blew everyone away. If based on last night’s performance, Archuleta deserved to win. We could tell he really wants to win but unfortunately, little David did not. David Cook on the other hand did not receive much positive comments from mean judge Simon Cowell, won anyway.

Pardon me, I’m not saying David Cook doesn’t deserve it but we all knew even if Cook did not win the competition, he’ll get to do a record anyway. Plus, in a talent contest like AI, your final song is what make or break you. The results truly surprised me.

Archuleta’s fans should not be at all upset even though the 17 year old Vocal Prodigy David Archuleta (or so he was labeled) did not win the competition; this young boy will have many opportunities coming for him and he has already won many hearts of the teenage girls and their mothers who’d buy his album.

Anyway, both of them deserved it. And I’m proud of them because afterall it’s a fair play – May the Best Man wins. And the Best man did.

Just so you know that Cook is also the lead singer and guitarist of band ‘Axium’. We might be seeing another platinum selling rock band after Daughtry. Rock on, folks.
